Born in 1994, struggle has been persistent throughout her 31 years, but she keeps perservering. Whether the obstacles are big or small, there is nothing that can keep Alyson down. From loss, physical impairment, traumatic experiences, tremendous and relentless bullying into her adulthood. In 2013, well on her way to attend SVA, in April tragedy struck Alyson and her plans were halted in place. She had endured a traumatic brain injury/diffuse axonial injury with c-ptsd as the nice cherry, tongue-in-cheek way of putting it, on top of these injuries. The past twelve years have been spent recovering and finding alternative methods to aid in her recovery. The first year was spent in typical therapy settings: occupational, cognitive, speech, and general therapy. Eventually it had changed to therapy, psych appointments, and counciling. Misdiagnosis after misdiagnosis. Having to explain to each new doctor the same information that was kept in the files. After the final misdiagnosis, she was urged by her doctor to halt medication as it was doing little to no help but making matters worse. Upon removing the medication from her routine, memories had started to flow back to her, as if a dam had burst. Alyson hasn't stopped creating and will not stop. Relearning the things that she once had and self-teaching herself on most of the hobbies, skillsets, and passions currently.
-[You would think that age and experience would soften the hearts of some, but it doesn't. I have watched the behaviors and actions of other people and how they treat me since my injury. I speak slower than before, but that doesn't equate to my level of intelligence.]

Trying something (ANYTHIHNG!) is better than doing nothing at all, or spending your life away gazing at screens-- watching strangers." - Alyson Lasley
